There’s no need for any particular knowledge of batteries or their charging methods; the Multi US 3300 will take care of it. The Multi US 3300 utilizes a four step auto charging cycle. 1st, patented desulphation functionality lets for possible reconditioning of batteries that have lost important power due nonuse. This is followed by Bulk Charging, when 80 of charging takes place; then Absorption Charging which completes charging up to virtually 100; and Pulse/Maintenance Charging, in which the battery receives a pulse of electricity when the voltage drops below 95, keeping the battery in perfect condition indefinitely when it isn’t used. If the battery is filled and the battery’s terminal voltage drops to 12.9V the charger automatically switches back to the beginning of the four step cycle. As well, the Multi US 3300 may be connected for months and it’s exactly developed for seasonal vehicles.

(REAL NAME) This review is from: CTEK Multi US 3300 12 Volt Smart Battery Charger (Automotive) I own two of these excellent chargers they’re easy to operate and lasting.
The chargers are weatherproof, and you may be able to permanently mount them in the engine compartment with the provided ring terminals, or just use the alligator clips.
The charger has a battery position display (low / full), and settings for Motorcycle, Car, or Gel battery. The charger cycles from trickle current, to pulses, and shuts off when the battery is full. There’s no better charger for winter storage battery tending, bringing almost dead batteries back to life, or just recharging ship batteries gradually overnight.
Finally, I should talk about that the current variant of the 3300 has many enhancements over the already excellent older variant (I now have one of each). The new variant includes:
Heavier gauge wiring
Much heavier and more lasting alligator clips
A nice zip up storage case

This charger looks to be superior to my Battery Tender chargers in that it appears to be sealed, of a more modern design, spark evidence. Enclosed in a two part cast housing, not an aluminum box. The charging algorithms will bring back a sulphated battery in many cases. It has three different charging settings, and brought my sulphated APC UPS battery back to restricted life. It’s especially suited for small motorcycle size batteries also as bigger batteries. It can be left connected indefinitely.

My only complaint is the cheap power cord that gets as inflexible as a broomstick in extreme cold. . . . . $##@!! cheap plastic covered power cords, anyway!

I have a lead plugged into my motorcycle, and two cars and I rotate it between the three of them and they start up like th battery is brand new. This must pay for itself just in not having to purchase a new battery. Do not think you will find something alike at wal mart for half the price. Do not go cheap as this is the best and well worth it.
